+The **Hold** checkbox at the bottom of the window is only shown if the **Show 'Hold' checkbox on prescriptions** preference is turned on (see the [[dispensing:dispensary_mode#setting_dispensary_mode_preferences|10.01. Dispensary mode]] page for details on that).
+If the **Hold** checkbox is ticked then the status of the prescription cannot be changed. This means, for example, if it is ticked when the prescription is first created, when the prescription screen is closed then the prescription will not be automatically confirmed and stock will not be automatically be removed from the store. In this case, the prescription must be re-opened and the **Hold** checkbox unticked before clicking on the **OK** button for the prescription to be confirmed (and the stock to be removed from the store.
